When is the Ohio Renaissance Festival

This fun event kicks off on September 3rd and runs every weekend through October 30th, 2022. It’s also open on Labor Day!

The Ren Faire is open 10:30AM – 7:00PM every day that it’s open and boy oh boy, is there a TON to do! Between the fun shows, delicious food, fun shopping, AND themed weekends, you’ll have non-stop fun during your visit.

Where is the Ohio Renaissance Festival

The entrance is located at 10542 East State Route 73 Waynesville, OH 45068. It’s about a 60 minute trip from Columbus and 45 minutes from Cincinnati. The drive is pretty straightforward and the festival grounds are only a few miles off the highway!

Parking is FREE which is an awesome perk of the event.

What is there to do at the Ohio Renaissance Festival

There is SO MUCH to do! I’m a big fan of all things medieval, witchy, and renaissance-era themed so these festivals are my favorite. Here are a few things you have to do during your trip.

  • Watch tons of shows! Make sure to look ahead of time or grab a program so you don’t miss the one show you want to see. I’m a big fan of the Full Armored Joust, the Mudde Show, the Pirate Stunt Show, and of course the Kamikaze Fireflies. You can see all the entertainment here.
  • Eat all the things. I will always recommend a giant turkey leg to be on trend. But, I’ve also had amazing fish and chips, Mac and cheese, and of course a giant pickle! It looks like they have some new food options this year too.
  • Shop, shop, shop! There is plenty of shopping around the entire festival. We absolutely bought Olivia a pair of fairy wings and a wand. It felt necessary.
  • Ride rides and play games! These aren’t your Kings Island rides and games, be warned. They are “medieval” and fun! Check out the full list here.

We typically pick the shows we want to see and then wander around eating, shopping, and stopping at areas that look fun. There is so much to explore and plenty of space to just rest and people watch too, if that’s your thing!

What do I wear to a Renaissance Festival

You can wear plain ol’ regular clothes or you can dress with the festivities! Scroll down to see my sister and I in homemade dresses that my stepdad made for us when we were younger.

Last year we opted for homemade shirts that I made with my Cricut! There are so many super impressive costumes at the festival but no-one will judge you if you are rocking some leggings and your favorite top.

It is Ohio though and the weather can be dicey from September – October so be sure to check it ahead of time to see if it will be sweltering or if it will be a perfect fall day. I’ve been when it’s 90+ degrees and when it’s 60 degrees!

There are also themed weekends every weekend which is super fun! I personally think Time Travelers Weekend is cool to see all the steampunk outfits but Viking Weekend is a great one too. Check ’em all out here.

How much does the Ohio Renaissance Festival cost

Festival ticket prices are as follows.

  • $28 for adults.
  • $10 for ages 5-12.
  • Children under 5 are free.
  • $25 for seniors (65+) available at the ticket booth only.
  • $25 for military/police/EMT available at the ticket booth only.

You can also purchase a season pass for $80 which is a great deal if you plan to go multiple times. You can purchase tickets here.

Is the Festival kid friendly

You know your kiddos best, but it’s been great for both our little ones! We took Olivia when she was 1 and 5 and Finnegan when he was just 8 months.

There are wide open spaces for them to run, watch the “parades,” see folks in costumes, take part in the knighting ceremony, play games, shop, and more.

Note that there are some shows that are a little PG-13, primarily in the pub area, so make sure to check the schedule before waltzing in for lunch with little ears.

We hope you enjoy visiting the Ohio Renaissance Festival this year! Be sure to tag us on Instagram or Facebook when you make the trip. We’d love to see your adventure!
