These pot roast sliders are the absolute best! They are made in the crock pot and served on Sister Schubert’sⓇ Parker House Style Yeast Rolls.

Okay, wow, I’m like beyond excited to share this pot roast slider recipe with you all. Not only because it’s SO easy to make but it takes a basic pot roast and sandwiches it between a soft and delicious roll that you won’t be able to stop eating.

When I told my dad I was making these sliders with Sister Schubert’sⓇ Parker House Style Yeast Rolls, he said “oh I love their rolls during the holidays.” I quickly said “yeah, but you can eat them WHENEVER.”

Isn’t that the best part of being an adult, no-one can tell you when you can or cannot have rolls. I have decided I will have them all the time.

Let’s chat about how simple this crock pot recipe is to make and how much your family will love it.

Ingredients for pot roast sliders.

Here are all the ingredients you need for these yummy little pot roast sliders. There shouldn’t be much you don’t have on hand, which is great for an easy recipe!

  • Chuck Roast. I say 2 – 2.5 pounds, but if you get one that is 3 pounds, that’s okay too! I used fresh beef for this recipe.
  • Veggies. I used yellow onions, russet potatoes, and whole carrots. The onions are sliced into big slices. The potatoes and carrots are chopped into inch sized pieces.
  • Seasonings. I used dried thyme and garlic powder to flavor the pot roast. You could use fresh for sure but these are easier! You’ll use salt and pepper to taste a few times in the recipe too.
  • Beef Broth. I don’t use Worcestershire in this recipe because my husband doesn’t like it. You could totally add a Tablespoon or two if you like the flavor!
  • Sister Schubert’s® Parker House Style Yeast Rolls. These are the star of the show. The rolls are little so you could serve 4-5 per person no problem.
  • Optional Toppings. The pot roast sliders are amazing on their own. But, we also added Swiss cheese, crispy onions, and jalapeños for extra flavor and texture.

How to make pot roast sliders.

This recipe is SO simple! That’s a crock pot recipe for you. It’s really just a few steps and something your whole family will love.

  • Sear the beef. You need to flavor the beef just a little bit before tossing it in the crock pot. I recommend using a cast iron skillet for this step.
  • Toss everything in the crock pot. There is a little bit more to it down in the recipe, but you really just throw all the ingredients in the crock pot to make all the yummy flavor of this pot roast. It cooks for about 7-8 hours.
  • Bake the rolls. Sister Schubert’s® Parker House Style Yeast Rolls take about 25 minutes to cook so prepare them while your pot roast is finishing up. I love that they give you real homemade taste for real life!
  • Prepare the sliders. You’ll shred your beef and layer some into a sliced roll. You can top with Swiss cheese, crispy onions, and jalapeños for extra flavor. I definitely recommend add these toppings!

I have been really embracing the crock pot lately because it can really whip up some magical dinner meals, obviously like these pot roast sliders. But, I like to have something a little extra to spruce it up.

That’s why I was so excited to use Sister Schubert’sⓇ Parker House Style Yeast Rolls for a quick (after the crock pot time) and easy meal that our whole family enjoyed. I mean, what 4 year old is going to be mad about having fluffy rolls at dinner? The answer is zero.

Plus, you can easily buy these rolls at Meijer either in store or online, like below! Bonus, they were on sale when I picked them up. Score. You can find these rolls in the freezer section. Click here to shop for them at your local grocer.

Cook Time: 7 hours hours
Servings: 0 pot roast sliders

Equipment

  • Crock Pot / Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 1-2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2-2.5 lb chuck roast
  • 1 cup yellow onion thickly sliced
  • 4 cups potatoes chopped
  • 3 cups carrots chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon thyme
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 2/2 cups beef broth
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 packages  Sister Schubert’s Parker House Style Yeast Rolls
  • 1/2 cup crispy onions optional
  • 3-5 slices swiss cheese optional
  • handful of jalapenos optional

Instructions

  • Add olive oil to a cast iron (or other heavy duty pan) pan and heat over medium-high heat.
  • While the oil/pan are heating up, pat your chuck roast dry with paper towels on both sides. Then, season heavily with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Add seasoned chuck roast to warm pan and sear on all sides until browned all over, about 4-6 minutes on each side. Then, transfer to your slow cooker.
  • Adding a little more olive oil to the pan, add your sliced onions and cook them for 3-4 minutes until a little bit soft and fragrant. Pour the onions and oil over the chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  • Then, add the beef broth, thyme, and garlic powder to the slow cooker.
  • Gently layer that potatoes and carrots on the chuck roast and onions in the slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper to your preference.
  • Cover slow cooker and cook on low heat until the roast and veggies are tender, about 7-8 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before roast is done, cook the Sister Schubert’s Parker House Style Yeast Rolls according to package instructions.
  • Once cooked, remove roast and place in a bowl or on a plate and shred with two forks until fully shreded. Place shredded roast in a bowl and ladle about 3/4 of cup of the broth over the shredded roast. Cover with foil and let sit while you prepare the Sister Schubert’s Parker House Style Yeast Rolls.
  • Once rolls are done, slice each on in half and spoon some shredded roast in the middle. If desired, top with small slices of swiss cheese. You can melt the cheese by placing the rolls with roast + cheese open faced on a baking sheet under the broiler for a minute or two.
  • If desired, you can also top with crispy onions and jalapenos! Serve with the cooked potatoes and carrots on the side and enjoy.
