Downtown Columbus is rolling out 200+ events across Columbus Commons and surrounding downtown spaces, with something happening nearly every day—from food trucks and concerts to kids programming, fitness classes, and movies.

This guide breaks it all down so you can quickly find what fits your schedule.

Everyday Activities at Columbus Commons

These are the easiest options when you just want to head downtown without planning around an event.

Free Carousel Rides

  • Daily, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • April 20 – September 30

Located at the south end of the park. If an operator isn’t present, you can call 614-227-3788 to request one.

On-Site Food Options

Available starting April 20:

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams + Tortilla Mexican Street Food

  • Monday–Wednesday: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday–Saturday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
    (Hours may vary based on weather)

This makes Columbus Commons an easy stop for a quick dessert, casual lunch, or meeting spot downtown.

Weekly Events at Columbus Commons

These recurring events are the backbone of the summer schedule and make it easy to plan ahead.

Food Truck Programming

Taco Tuesday

  • Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • May 5 – September 29

Features rotating Latin food trucks and live music in the Bosque area.

Breakfast at the Commons

  • Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • May 6 – September 30

Morning food trucks offering breakfast and coffee options downtown.

Food Truck Food Court

  • Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • May 7 – September 24

Includes:

  • Up to 10 local food trucks
  • Live music
  • Seating throughout the Commons

Downtown Columbus Farmers Market (New for 2026)

  • Thursdays during Food Truck Food Court
  • May 7 – September 24

Operated in partnership with Common Greens, this new addition brings local produce and goods into the park during lunchtime hours.

Free Fitness Classes

  • May 5 – September 30 – Sign up here!

Tuesdays

  • HIIT Cardio by Quality Wellness
  • 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Wednesdays

  • Yoga by RawYoga614
  • 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

All skill levels are welcome. Participants should bring a mat for yoga.

Free Play

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • May – September

Open-ended play for kids, including:

  • Giant parachute
  • Imagination Playground blocks
  • Soccer balls
  • Little Free Library access

This is a flexible, drop-in option that works well for younger kids.

Commons for Kids

  • Fridays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • June 5 – August 14
  • No event on June 19 or July 3

Weekly themed programming designed for children, including:

  • Inflatables (select weeks)
  • Balloon twisting (select weeks)
  • Face painting
  • Crafts and hands-on activities

Movies at Columbus Commons

All movies begin at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. Free popcorn and snack packs are available while supplies last for select events.

Concerts and Live Music

Common Ground Concert

  • August 15, 2026
  • Featuring Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers

This is one of the largest free concerts of the summer.

Important details:

  • Tickets are required for entry (free)
  • Early release for newsletter subscribers: July 14
  • Public release: July 15
  • Tickets are first come, first served and typically claimed quickly

Local + Live Concert Series

All shows begin at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

  • May 22 – The Navigators (charity concert benefiting Families Flourish)
  • May 24 – Women of Rock (Shadowbox Live)
  • June 6 (1 p.m.) – JoyFest featuring Honey and Blue, Blucone, and Lungu Vybz
  • August 27 – Back to School Night featuring Fort Hayes students and Joey Aich
  • September 4 – The Dead Revival Band + Groove Brothers Band (Allman Brothers tribute with digital projections)

Family Fun Day
