This blazin’ queso burger is the burger to end all burgers. A beef burger topped with white queso, DORITOS, and shredded lettuce all on a pretzel bun.

It’s Burger Month again, YAY! Last year, we made this awesome jalapeno pineapple burger and I’m still drooling over it. Grab that recipe here. But, this year’s burger is just as amazing and delicious. I mean, it has DORITOS and QUESO on it. So, like what could be better?

The Ingredients for this Amazing Blazin’ Queso Burger Recipe

This burger might sound crazy but you actually only need a few ingredients.

  • Ground Beef. Well we made this a beef burger but you could do chicken or turkey or even veggie if you’d prefer!
  • White Queso. Two recommendations here. Gordo’s is our FAVORITE packaged queso, find it in the dairy section of your local grocery store. You can also just order white queso from Chipotle and use that!
  • Doritos. A few options here! You can use the blaze ones for some spice or go more traditional with nacho cheese.
  • Lettuce. I love some chopped iceberg lettuce on burgers! It’s so crunchy and perfect.
  • Pretzel Buns. Not required, but recommended. Pretzel buns make everything better.

Burger Cooking Tips

There is no bad way to cook a queso burger. But, we highly recommend grilling your burger to perfection on a charcoal grill (we have this trusty Weber!) before assembling.

Toast your pretzel bun and add a drizzle of warm white queso then some shredded lettuce before plopping your burger on it. Finish with more queso and crushed Doritos.

You can try eating it as a normal burger or you can just succumb to eating with a fork and knife. Sorry ’bout it but it’s a messy one!

  • Cranberry Jam Burgers, The jam on this burger is literally incredible. I could eat it everyday and be happy.
  • Irish Cheddar and Bacon Pub Burgers. This burger is an homage to one of our favorite festivals in Columbus!
  • Jalapeno Pineapple Burger. I literally dream of this burger. It’s spicy and sweet and utterly perfect.

Cook Time: 15 minutes minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes minutes
Servings: 2 people

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 85/15 is ideal
  • 1-2 Tablespoons favorite burger seasoning
  • 1 head iceburg lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup Blaze Doritos, crushed
  • 2-4 Tablespoons Gordo’s Queso
  • 2 pretzel buns

Instructions

  • Prepare your burgers either on the grill outside (preferred) or in a hot pan inside until desired cooking temperature. While your burgers are cooking, prepare your other ingredients.
  • You can use a different queso, but we have found that Gordo’s is the best in terms of taste and consistency.
  • As your burgers are finishing, butter your pretzel buns and grill or toast in a pan for extra deliciousness.
  • Prepare burger by placing shredded lettuce on bottom bun, followed by burger, drizzled with queso, topped with crushed Doritos and the top pretzel bun.
  • Serve with additional Doritos or queso to dip on the side!

This burger reminds me of one of my favorite salads that has crushed Doritos on top! I love the idea of queso and Doritos on a burger … give me heat and crunch and I’m a happy girl. πŸ˜‰

My son and his GF bring Gordo’s every time they visit from college for the weekend. We’ve never used it on a burger. DUH! What a great idea! I love this recipe and can’t wait till they come visit to make it.
