Disney World Restaurant Review: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall Princess Breakfast

Princesses! Our breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall was our first character meal during our trip to Disney World. It’s located in Norway in Epcot right next to the adorable Frozen ride. We had breakfast bright and early so we got to enter the park right as it opened which was awesome.

She was more excited about the buffet of delicious items we were about to enjoy. When you first walk in, they corral you (like everything in Disney World) into a line where you’ll get to meet a Disney Princess with an actual Disney photographer (cue PhotoPass). We met the lovely Belle before we had breakfast which was a super fun way to start the meal. Throughout your breakfast, each Princess (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, and Ariel) will stop by at least once. They also do a cute little parade with the kiddos during your meal.

They will bring you over a plate (to share) of eggs, cheesy hashbrowns, sausage, and bacon. Since I don’t eat pork, I requested turkey sausage and they brought me a few yummy pieces. The eggs were fine, I’m not really a big scrambled egg person, but these ones were buttery and yummy. The Beard and I both loved the cheesy hashbrowns. I would have liked to add a little hot sauce but honestly, there is just so much going on that it’s the last thing I thought about asking during breakfast. Oh, and you can also get juice, water, coffee, milk and/or soda to drink.

As with most meals at Disney World, they are themed around the country or characters involved. Since we were in “Norway,” the food was vaguely reminiscent of what I imagine they eat over there.  I loaded up on all the carbs with a side of fruit. I’ve never met a croissant that I didn’t like so I thought these were great. The cinnamon rolls were also actually wonderful. They kind of reminded me of the ones that Panera makes, which I think are fantastic (don’t judge me). Disney World Restaurant Review: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall Princess Breakfast by The Beard and The Baker

Oh, hey, Ariel! I think that these ladies have such a hard job. They are so committed to staying in character and it’s great. They manage to make everything you say fit into “their world.” Ariel called O a guppy, like Flounder, and apparently, she liked it because this is the one Princess picture she smiled in that morning. They are also so organized and have such a system of gliding from table to table without ever missing a beat or missing a kiddo.

He loaded up on the basics like salami, turkey, etc. But, you could also nom on “traditional” dishes like smoked salmon, herring and other fishy friends that I was a little bit too apprehensive to enjoy. Disney World Restaurant Review: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall Princess Breakfast by The Beard and The BakerWe were also on the Disney Dining Plan for our breakfast at Akershus and it was just one credit, which is kind of a steal. Just remember, that you need to make reservations as soon as you can because this will fill up fast. Any meal with characters fills up lickety split. If you didn’t know already, you can start making meal reservations at least 180 days out. Yes, that’s 6 months and yes, that sounds crazy. But, when your 4-year-old is crushed because she didn’t get to meet Princess Belle, you’ll be glad you made that reservation 6 months earlier.
